I am the
Hentges Fellow in Finance and an
Associate Professor in the
Department of Finance at a
Tippie-top College of Business at a large, public
University in the state of Iowa.
I study how people and firms manage risk, and what happens when the institutions meant to help them get the incentives wrong. My research spans insurance economics, household finance, and public policy, usually with a causal-inference bent and a soft spot for administrative data.
Recent projects look at disaster-recovery lending, the moral-hazard consequences of health-insurance subsidies, annuities in retirement plans, and what medical-cannabis laws do to the roads. You can find the published papers and current drafts on the research page.
